ILLIT record highest first-week sales in Japan with Oricon entry

ILLIT have recorded their highest first-week sales in Japan to date, with their second Japanese single 'I Got Your Back' selling 71,009 copies and entering Oricon's weekly singles chart at No 4. The group comprises Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee and Iroha.

Oricon, one of Japan's main music charts, said on 5 August that ILLIT's second Japanese single, 'I Got Your Back', sold 71,009 copies in its first week and debuted at No 4 on the weekly singles chart dated 10 August. This is the group's highest first-week sales figure to date for a release in Japan, underlining the size of their local fanbase that has grown since their debut.

From streaming success to major broadcast appearances

The title track, 'I Got Your Back (Feat. JISOO, MOMOKA of HANA)', which had generated buzz before release because it features local artists, went straight to No 1 on AWA's real-time rising chart on release. It also settled comfortably into the Japanese charts on LINE MUSIC, Apple Music Japan and Spotify Japan, with figures in the local music industry saying it had "completely captured the mainstream as well".

On the back of that success, ILLIT have been fielding invitations from major Japanese broadcasters and large festivals and have remained active on the ground. Their main local engagements are as follows.

• 3 August: Appearances on Fuji TV's 'Mezamashi TV' and TBS's 'CDTV Live! Live!'

• 4 August: Performance at the 'Mezamashi Wangan Festival'

Performances on major programmes such as 'CDTV Live! Live!' trended on real‑time social media in Japan immediately after broadcast and drew a strong response.

Upcoming in-person events to sustain momentum

After launching a successful comeback, ILLIT will also expand their in-person fan events in Japan. On 8 August they will hold a large-scale release celebration at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, a landmark commercial complex in Tokyo. On 9 August they will take the stage at the major music festival 'Lucky Festival 2026', where they plan to keep their momentum in Japan going with the group's trademark high-energy performance.
