ILLIT sets personal Oricon record in Japan with 71,009 first-week sales

ILLIT (Yoon-a, Min-ju, Moka, Won-hee, I-roha) is cementing its status as a global breakout act after demonstrating explosive growth in Japan.

Oricon's latest chart, released Aug. 5, showed that ILLIT's second Japanese single, "I Got Your Back," sold 71,009 copies in its first week and entered Oricon's Weekly Singles Ranking (dated Aug. 10) at No. 4. It marked the group's highest first-week sales for any release in Japan and demonstrated the solid scale of its local fanbase, which has steadily expanded since debut.

From streaming charts to flagship broadcasts, they deliver all-around impact

The group's strong showing extends beyond physical sales to digital platforms. The title track, "I Got Your Back (Feat. JISOO, MOMOKA of HANA)," generated pre-release buzz because it featured local artists, and jumped to No. 1 on Japan's AWA real-time rising chart immediately after its debut. It also secured spots on Japan-region charts for major global streaming services, including Line Music, Apple Music Japan and Spotify Japan, earning praise from the local music industry for "perfectly capturing mass appeal."

Building on these results, ILLIT has lined up appearances on major Japanese TV programs and at large festivals and has been actively promoting there. Their key local schedule is as follows.

  • August 3: Appearances on Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV" and TBS's "CDTV Live! Live!"

  • August 4: Performance at the "Mezamashi WANGAN Festival"

Notably, the polished performances they delivered on flagship music programs such as "CDTV Live! Live!" dominated real-time trends on local social media immediately after broadcast, drawing strong reactions.

Close fan engagement through in-person events to sustain momentum

After a successful comeback, ILLIT plans to expand direct contact with local fans through in-person events. On Aug. 8 they will hold a large-scale event marking the release of the new single at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, a major commercial complex in Tokyo. On Aug. 9 they will perform at the large-scale music festival "Lucky Festival 2026," bringing their high-energy stage to Japanese audiences and continuing their surge in popularity in Japan.
