Netflix original series ‘Monthly Boyfriend’ is winning hearts worldwide and building on its run as a global hit.
According to the weekly Top 10 rankings released by TUDUM, Netflix’s official website, ‘Monthly Boyfriend’ claimed first place in the Global Top 10 non-English TV shows category, underlining its staying power. The series logged 4.8 million viewing figures (based on total viewing time) and 47.8 million viewing hours, holding on to the number-one spot for the second consecutive week.
In particular, it secured a place on the Top 10 list across 47 countries worldwide—including South Korea, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam—demonstrating its wide appeal that goes beyond borders.
The response at home is just as fierce. In the March second-week TV–OTT integrated drama buzz chart released by Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex, a research institute specialising in analysing K-content competitiveness, ‘Monthly Boyfriend’ took first place for two consecutive weeks, sweeping up domestic buzz.
Alongside the show’s success, interest in the lead cast has also surged to new heights. In the results of the buzz survey for the cast category, the lead, Blackpink Jisoo, ranked first, while Seo In-guk placed second, driving an overwhelming wave of attention for the production.
