Actor Ahn Hyo-seop has reached a U.S. Billboard chart with his first official music release since his debut, demonstrating his strength as a global all-rounder.

Released in May, Ahn’s first single, “Something Special,” is a collaboration with internationally renowned American R&B artist Khalid. About five months after its release, the song continues to gain ground across global streaming platforms, U.S. radio and its music video.

Billboard and Spotify Success, With Staying Power on U.S. Radio Charts

The song has posted notable results on major U.S. music charts since its release. Its sustained run on the highly competitive U.S. radio charts has drawn particular attention from local media.

  • Billboard Pop Airplay: 12 consecutive weeks on the chart, peaking at No. 34

  • Spotify Daily Top Songs USA: Peaked at No. 39

  • Mediabase Top 40: Nine consecutive weeks on the chart, peaking at No. 32

The song has received approximately 13,910 radio plays in the United States, with an estimated audience of 12.7 million. It has also been prominently featured on major U.S. outlets, including “American Top 40,” the flagship radio chart show hosted by well-known American broadcaster Ryan Seacrest, and Music Choice, underscoring the strong response.

Ahn and R&B Star Khalid Find Chemistry as Music Video Tops 12 Million Views

“Something Special” blends K-pop’s appeal with R&B elements, pairing Ahn’s smooth tone with Khalid’s soulful vocals. The release drew considerable attention even before it came out, marking the first time global pop star Khalid had released an official collaboration with a Korean artist.

Ahn reportedly agreed to take part immediately after hearing the demo. He later spoke directly with Khalid over FaceTime, sharing ideas about the music as they worked through the details of the track. Their chemistry carried over to the official music video, released in August, which surpassed 12 million YouTube views in about 10 weeks.

From Acting to Music, Ahn Expands His Global All-Rounder Career

For Ahn, who has built a global fan base through his acting career, the song holds special significance as his first official music release. After showcasing his versatility by voicing Jinu in the Netflix animated film “KPop Demon Hunters,” he has expanded his career further with a successful global music release.

Ahn was also recently nominated for Favorite Male Animated Voice from a Movie at the 2026 Kids’ Choice Awards, further demonstrating his global reach. His acting career continues as well: He is set to appear in JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Final Table,” which premieres on the 24th at 10:40 p.m.
