The group BTS has firmly entered a period of sustained success, achieving consistent results on major US music charts with their new album.
No. 4 on the Billboard 200… solid long-term success
According to a chart preview article published on the 26th (local time) by US music outlet Billboard, BTS's fifth studio album 'Arirang (ARIRANG)' ranked fourth on the Billboard 200 chart dated May 2. Even in its fifth week after release, it firmly maintained a Top 5 position, demonstrating its strong global streaming and sales power.
The album recorded a total of 62,000 units for the week, indicating steady listener demand. This figure is the sum of physical and digital album sales, streaming equivalent albums (SEA) and track equivalent albums (TEA), suggesting broad support from general listeners beyond a specific fandom.
'BTS 2.0' era begins… North American tour sells out
These achievements are significant in that they have laid the groundwork for long-term success beyond short-term buzz. The fifth studio album 'Arirang' is regarded as a work that encapsulates the group's unique identity and future musical direction, and is seen as a symbolic milestone announcing the full-scale start of the so-called 'BTS 2.0' era.
Alongside the strong chart performance, the North American tour got off to a strong start. BTS opened the 'BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG IN NORTH AMERICA' at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on the 25th. The tour will visit 12 cities, including Mexico City, Las Vegas and Chicago, for a total of 31 shows.
With all shows selling out well in advance, they will take the stage at El Paso's Sun Bowl Stadium on May 2 and 3. BTS are the first Korean artists to hold a solo concert at that venue, once again confirming their overwhelming global standing.
