BTS to Take to the Stage at the 2026 AMA… Chasing Their Second Major Award in 5 Years

The group BTS is set to attend the American Music Awards (known as the AMA), one of the “Big Three” major Western popular music awards in the United States, and will be aiming to reclaim the top prize after five years.

According to the organisers of the AMA on the 20th (local time), BTS will attend the “2026 AMA” awards ceremony in person at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on the 25th. This will be their first on-site appearance in around five years since 2021, drawing keen interest from fans worldwide.

At this ceremony, BTS has been nominated in three categories in total, including “Artist of the Year”, the award equivalent to the top prize, as well as “Best Male K-Pop Artist” and “Song of the Summer”. In particular, in the “Artist of the Year” category, they will face intense competition from top-tier pop stars such as Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars. The title track “SWIM” from their regular album “ARIRANG” was named as a nominee for “Song of the Summer” right after its release, proving its overwhelming impact.

Focus on Whether They Can Break Their All-Time Record for Most Wins

So far, BTS have lifted a total of 12 trophies at the AMA. In 2021, they achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first Korean artists to win “Artist of the Year”. They have also topped the pop duo/group category for four consecutive years since 2019, establishing them as the artists with the most wins in history.

A Large-Scale Concert to Turn Las Vegas Reddish

Along with attending the awards ceremony, more large-scale performances are also scheduled. BTS will hold their solo concerts “BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG IN LAS VEGAS” at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas over four days, from the 23rd to 24th and from the 27th to 28th. In addition, the city-link project “BTS THE CITY ARIRANG”, developed in collaboration with the Las Vegas Tourism Authority, will be carried out, offering a variety of cultural experiences such as “ARIRANG Red Illumination”, which will colour the entire city with a red glow.
