BTS make pop history with 'Arirang' tour
The group BTS has, with its world tour 'Arirang', exceeded cumulative concert grosses of 3 trillion won in just two months. The group's fifth studio album, 'Arirang', has also posted huge streaming numbers, amassing 3.8 billion streams worldwide within eight weeks of release.
Billboard 'Top Tours' No 1 after surpassing the Rolling Stones
Billboard reported on 29 May local time that BTS staged 12 shows across North America and Mexico in May, generating $127.8 million (about 1.98 trillion won). Ticket sales reached 641,000, securing the group the No 1 spot on Billboard Boxscore's May 'Top Tours' chart.
Notably, this is the highest monthly gross for a group since Billboard Boxscore began compiling its chart in 2019. The figure exceeds the previous record — the Rolling Stones' $95.0 million in August 2019 — by more than 35%.
Run shows no sign of slowing, with more than 50 dates still to come this year
Since the tour began in April, cumulative grosses have reached $204.0 million (about 3.16 trillion won). Total ticket sales have already passed 1.1 million. For two consecutive months, BTS posted the highest monthly gross and sold the most tickets, cementing their status as a global box-office force.
The album has also posted huge streaming numbers. Since its release, the fifth studio album 'Arirang' has racked up more than 3.8 billion streams in eight weeks across major platforms — an unprecedented achievement that reinforces K-pop's global standing.
Billboard noted there are more than 50 additional performances scheduled for the second half of the year, and expects this tour to comfortably surpass the commercial success of the earlier 'Love Yourself' tour. The scale of BTS's continued success is now a focus across the global music industry.
