BTS have kicked off their large-scale global project ‘THE CITY’ by painting Las Vegas vivid red.
Red wave sweeps the city as new release 'ARIRANG' takes centre stage
BTS, ahead of world tour concerts scheduled for the 23rd and 24th, and the 27th and 28th (local time), have been running a city-linked campaign since the 20th. After turning the city purple in 2022, BTS this time made red—the signature colour of their new release 'ARIRANG'—the visual motif across Las Vegas.
BTS's takeover of the Sphere, the world's largest spherical venue
The standout feature of the event was BTS's takeover of the Sphere, the world's largest spherical entertainment venue. On the night of the concert, the Sphere's exterior presented lavish projections of BTS silhouettes holding cheongsachorong (traditional blue-and-red Korean lanterns) and of a giant bell. A bold message then appeared on the vast media façade, capturing the attention of fans around the world. Major landmarks along the Strip, including the High Roller and the Eiffel Tower, were also bathed in intense red lighting, contributing to the celebratory atmosphere.
60,000 pack Allegiant Stadium as four shows sell out
The project also featured a range of in-person events. Fireworks timed to tracks from the new release, a monorail wrapped in the event theme and an immersive media art exhibition offered visitors a multisensory musical experience. The citywide festival is set to continue from late May into early June.
Meanwhile, BTS's Las Vegas concerts sold out all four performances. On the 23rd, the night of the first show, around 60,000 fans filled Allegiant Stadium, highlighting the scale of the event. International DJ Steve Aoki made a surprise guest appearance. From the stage, BTS said, “We sincerely thank everyone who has waited for four years.” The remark deeply moved fans in attendance.
