Netflix's 'True Education' Tops 25 Countries, Enters U.S. Top 10

The Netflix original series 'True Education' has hit No. 1 in 25 countries, leading a new surge in the global popularity of Korean content.

Data from global streaming tracker FlixPatrol showed that, as of Sept. 7, 'True Education' ranked No. 1 in Netflix's TV category in 25 countries across Asia and the Middle East, including Hong Kong, India and Saudi Arabia. In South Korea, it has held the No. 1 spot continuously since its release, demonstrating explosive public interest.

Its most notable achievement is its strong showing in North America and other English-speaking markets, where Korean series often face tougher competition. The series broke into the U.S. Netflix Top 10 and also logged steady chart positions in other major Anglophone markets, reaching No. 5 in Canada and No. 6 in Australia, fully capturing the attention of a global audience.

Planned as a 10-episode series, 'True Education' briskly depicts the efforts of the Teacher Protection Division to restore eroded teacher authority. 'Juvenile Justice' director Hong Jong-chan helmed the show, and 'The Light in Your Eyes' writer Lee Nam-kyu penned the screenplay, earning praise for delivering a weighty social message while maintaining high production quality.

The powerhouse performances of its cast are a central driver of its success. Kim Mu-yeol delivers a satisfying catharsis as Na Hwa-jin, supervisor of the Teacher Protection Division, while Lee Sung-min anchors the drama as Education Minister Choi Kang-seok. Supporting players with distinctive presence, including Jin Ki-joo and Pyo Ji-hoon, amplify the series' dramatic appeal.
