BTS tops 300 billion won in two months with the 'Arirang' tour

The group BTS has topped 300 billion won in cumulative concert revenue in just two months on its world tour 'Arirang', an unprecedented major record. The group's fifth full-length studio album of the same name also set a rare benchmark, racking up more than 3.8 billion streams worldwide within eight weeks of release and tightening BTS's grip on the global music market.

Surpasses the Rolling Stones to top Billboard Boxscore 'Top Tours'

Billboard reported on May 29 that BTS held 12 shows across North America and Mexico in May, generating $127.8 million in revenue (about 198 billion won). Ticket sales totaled 641,000, earning them the No. 1 spot on Billboard Boxscore's May 'Top Tours' chart.

The figure marks the highest monthly gross ever recorded by a group since Billboard Boxscore launched the chart in 2019. It tops the previous record—the Rolling Stones' $95 million in August 2019—by more than 35%.

Box-office surge continues, over 50 shows scheduled for the second half

The 'Arirang' tour, which began in April, has generated $204 million in cumulative revenue so far (about 316 billion won). Cumulative ticket sales have already topped 1.1 million. BTS has posted the highest monthly revenue and ticket sales for two consecutive months, demonstrating its overwhelming global ticket-selling power on the live circuit.

Streaming performance has been strong. The fifth full-length studio album 'Arirang' swept major streaming platforms from its release and recorded more than 3.8 billion streams over eight weeks, reaffirming K-pop's global stature.

Billboard noted that with more than 50 additional shows scheduled for the second half of the year, the tour is likely to surpass the commercial performance of the group's earlier 'Love Yourself' tour. The global music industry is watching how far BTS's box-office run will go.
